Abstract: | Fossil fuels are not renewable and will be exhausted sooner or later. In addition, the use of fossil fuels has induced very serious environmental pollution. Thus, it is necessary to find alternative sources that are renewable and environmentally-friendly. Hydrogen is a very promising alternative energy source and hence has received more attention all over the world in recent years. Of the various methods of biohydrogen production, fermentative hydrogen production has proven advantages. Comprehensive review of literature has revealed that production of biohydrogen, especially, from industrial wastes in continuous mode of operation and using a co-substrate has not been investigated so far. |
