Abstract:
Recruiting and retaining talented persons in any institution have become one of the major issues in India due to globalization. India has a number of defence scientific industries working under the prestigious Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). Although India is rated to be one of fast developing countries in areas of defense scientific research, it is reported that it requires a large number of knowledgeable and dedicated persons to be employed at different levels of DRDO, in order to face the challenges posed by the process of globalization. Most of the employees are fleeing from DRDO for various reasons. Especially, persons placed in higher positions are looking for great freedom and financial incentives. Since the corporate world of today provides them lucrative incentives apart from huge package of salary, they intend to go out of parent institution without minding for their initial trouble in settling down with the new jobs in different organizations. Such trend is dangerous not only to the respective organizations but also for the development of the country. In this connection, it is reported that India is one of the leading countries losing a great number of talented employees, especially in defence research institutions, who go and settle down in developed countries. Against this brief background, the study aims at analyzing the impact of globalization on recruitment and retention specifically in defence scientific organizations attached with DRDO in Hyderabad.
